Lista confirmada de los Apple Watch que no recibirán más soporte

The Apple Watch was first introduced on September 9, 2014 by Tim Cook and available for sale in April 2015. Eight years have passed since then, and the brand has learned a lot about wearable technology.

So it's time to gather the lessons learned and say goodbye to those first steps.

And the best way Apple has found to close this loop is by listing the Apple Watches that will no longer receive support.

List of Apple Watches that will lose support starting in 2023

For Apple, products are considered legacy when the brand has stopped distributing them for sale for more than 5 years and less than 7 years. For this reason, early-generation smartwatches will be considered legacy, and the following will no longer be supported starting this year:

  • Apple Watch (1st generation), 38 mm
  • Apple Watch (1st generation), 42 mm
  • Apple Watch Series 2, Aluminum (2nd Generation), 38mm
  • Apple Watch Series 2, Aluminum (2nd Generation), 42mm

Which generations of Apple Watch will continue to be supported?

Apple Smartwatches from the third generation onwards (from 2017 onwards) will still be supported.

Let's take a quick look at Apple's smartwatch releases from 2017 onwards.

The third generation came out in 2017 and is commonly known as the Series 3. Its big innovation was the inclusion of wearables using LTE technology.

In 2018, the Apple Watch Series 4 arrived with significant design improvements, but no significant technological changes.

Likewise, the Series 5 arrives in 2019 with interesting functionality expansions.

In 2020, two Apple smartwatch models appeared: the Series 6 with significant health features. The Apple Watch SE was introduced, a more affordable smartwatch option that sacrificed some features.

In 2021, the Apple Watch Series 7 launched with primarily visual changes to the display and new features for tracking physical activity. Two sizes were released: the 41mm Apple Watch Series 7 and the 45mm Apple Watch Series 7.

In 2022, Apple Watch debuts for the first time, introducing three types of smartwatches: the Apple Watch Series 8 , which appeals primarily to a female audience due to its features and design; the Apple Watch SE, a simpler and more affordable version; and the much more powerful Apple Watch Ultra , for a more demanding audience.

Which Apple smartwatch is worth buying in 2023?

The latest generation will definitely always be the most powerful and the one you should aim for, as an older generation runs the risk of losing support very quickly.

At the moment there are only rumors about Apple Watch Series 9 , nothing definitive, although its launch is expected for September 2023 with presentations similar to those we saw in 2022, that is, 3 models are expected (Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Ultra).

If you don't want to wait all that time, the best option is definitely any of the eighth-generation Apple Watches we have in our store.
