Lenovo has confirmed it is discontinuing its gaming handsets, called Legion, as part of a broader transformation for all its customers and the consolidation of its gaming portfolio.
What's happening with Lenovo and its gaming line?
Here we tell you.
Lenovo shuts down Legion Phone
Lenovo is a brand belonging to the Chinese multinational Lenovo Group responsible for designing, developing, manufacturing and even selling electronic products such as computers, laptops, smartphones and notebook accessories .
One of this company's business lines is Legion, which is geared toward gamers, who love digital games, at an affordable price. It had been offering gaming smartphones through this line through Legion Phone, which has been shut down according to Android Authority .
The official statement from a Lenovo brand spokesperson was as follows:
“Lenovo is discontinuing its Android-based Legion gaming handsets as part of a broader business transformation and consolidation of its gaming portfolio. As a leader in gaming devices and solutions, Lenovo is committed to advancing the gaming category across all form factors, while also focusing on where it can bring the most value to the global gaming community” – Lenovo spokesperson
What Legion cell phones has Lenovo created for gamers?
Legion Phone Duel was the brand's first model in 2020, striking for its distinctive camera design, daring to place it in the center of the back of the phone and ideal for horizontal gaming.
Its improved version came out in 2021 and was unveiled under the name Legion Phone Duel 2. Its main difference with the previous version focused on offering better cooling, an essential, and at the same time expensive, feature of any gaming cell phone.
This would be his last gaming cell phone.
However, it's important to note that the brand has discontinued gaming phones, but not the rest of the gaming line of products, such as laptops, PCs, and accessories.
Speculation on the subject has been swift, and some already claim that the brand is designing a more powerful and innovative gaming phone; however, this has not been confirmed by the brand.
But what we do know is that Lenovo has left the way clear, for now, to other brands that are doing a great job with gaming phones such as Xiaomi's Black Shark , ASUS Rog Phone , and Redmagic from Nubia .
So, if Lenovo Legion decides to re-enter the gaming world with a more powerful phone, you'll be the first to know via our news blog.
