Ya se huele el OnePlus Nord 2

It's official. OnePlus has just confirmed the launch date of the OnePlus Nord 2 5G, the revamp of the popular OnePlus Nord (its first mid-range device). It will be on July 22nd at 4:00 PM CEST.

According to Pete Lau, CEO of the company, the OnePlus Nord 2 5G is a "comprehensive upgrade" of the original OnePlus Nord. In the company's words, this new device has improved everything from the camera to performance and charging speed. It remains to be seen what this translates into.

The truth is, the OnePlus Nord 2 5G isn't a device we're all familiar with. A few weeks ago, the device was leaked in its entirety, courtesy of OnLeaks. Obviously, the images aren't official by any means, but OnLeaks has a good track record when it comes to renders.

What we "know," so to speak, is that the device would be based on the design of the OnePlus 9 Pro, that its screen would be AMOLED, and that it would be 8.1 millimeters thick. No surprises there. Based on the images, it seems OnePlus won't be implementing a design revolution, but we'll just have to wait and see.

What's official is its processor. While the OnePlus Nord featured a Snapdragon 765G, for the OnePlus Nord 2 5G the company will ditch Qualcomm and opt for MediaTek. Specifically, a customized MediaTek 1200 processor called the MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI.
