Xiaomi has officially demonstrated its new 200W 'HyperCharge' fast-charging technology, capable of fully charging a 4,000 mAh smartphone in just eight minutes.
The demonstration, Xiaomi explains, was carried out with a modified Mi 11 Pro with a 4,000 mAh battery, to show off its 'HyperCharge' technology with 200W wired charging and 120W wireless charging. In this way, Xiaomi claims to set new charging speed records: from 0 to 100% in 8 minutes of wired charging and 15 minutes of wireless charging.
It's not uncommon for Xiaomi to show significant advancements in fast charging technology, as it's been one of the areas where it's seen the most innovations in recent months. For example, the Mi 10 Ultra was the first smartphone with 120W fast charging and shortly afterward introduced the world's fastest wireless charging at the time, with 80W of power . Both technologies have been far surpassed by now, and in fact , it was already rumored last year that 2021 would see the arrival of 200W fast charging, which has now come to fruition.
On the other hand, Xiaomi also has its "over-the-air" wireless charging, Mi Air Charge , shown earlier this year and with which it promises to completely get rid of cables and bases to charge devices, only being within range for the power transmission. Competitors of this type of technology have emerged from Motorola and OPPO , and even Motorola has made it official that it will bring this possibility to its future smartphones .
Xiaomi hasn't shared details about if or when its new HyperCharge charging will be coming to smartphones, but it stands to reason that we could see this technology on its devices in the near future.
