According to CBNC, the Pixel Fold is expected to be on the market by June, and its design is very similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 proposal, that is, it is a cell phone that opens like a book, making it the first foldable Pixel.
The emphasis on its differentiation from Samsung appears to be on a more durable hinge, a proposal that will improve the criticisms Samsung has already received.
It will also be a waterproof phone, as many of its fans are already hoping.
Another feature worth highlighting is the battery's long lifespan, which lasts 24 hours and can be extended up to 72 hours in low-power mode.
As for the chip, it will work with Tensor G2, that is, the same processor that the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro phones have, although this has not yet been confirmed.
Its software is also expected to bring special Android features for the Pixel Fold, as its audience has become accustomed to, as has been seen throughout the Pixel series.
How has Samsung responded to the news of Google's foldable Pixel?
Samsung has been a leader in foldable phones so far, but it appears to have taken a dim view of Google's announcement, as it reported that it is considering switching its default search engine from Google to Bing across its entire line of smartphones, giving Microsoft a head start.
With this announcement alone, shares of Alphabet, Google's parent company, have fallen by 3.5%. So Google has no choice but to come up with some incentive strategy to attract the public to its new product.
Google has already talked about some incentives such as, for example, exchanging a current Pixel for a Pixel Fold, and it seems that exchanges of any other Android phone and even the iPhone itself will be accepted.
