Xiaomi Redmi en GSMPRO.CL

As a self-confessed fan of mobile launches —and a self-confessed fan of anything that smacks of innovation—few things excite me as much as a Xiaomi announcement. Not only because they tend to break the quality-price ratio like no other, but because they set trends that end up affecting the entire industry.
Today I want to tell you about a new development that is making a lot of noise: The imminent launch of the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro . A device that promises to put more than one established high-end smartphone in a difficult position… but with a mid-range price.

Now, beyond the hype, what do we really know? When might we see it in the Chilean market ? And is it worth the wait? I invite you to an in-depth analysis, but with a human perspective: without unnecessary jargon and designed for those of us who, like you and me, want to make the best choice for our next smartphone.

The origin of the Turbo series: why so much interest?

Before talking about the 4 Pro, it is key to understand What the Turbo family represents in the Xiaomi ecosystem. It's not a premium line like the Mi or Mix, nor an ultra-affordable one like the basic Redmi Note.

The Turbo series is a statement of principles : raw power, focused on performance and speed, at a price most can afford.

The Redmi Turbo 3 already showed signs of that: latest-generation processor, brutally fast charging, elegant design... all for less than the cost of a traditional mid-range premium model.
With this high bar, the Turbo 4 Pro is challenged to not only keep it high, but surpass it.

What do we know so far about the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro?

Although Xiaomi has yet to make an official announcement, leaks—from fairly reliable sources such as Digital Chat Station and MySmartPrice—already paint a rather detailed picture.

Preliminary specifications:

  • Display : 6.7-inch OLED, 1.5K resolution, 144 Hz refresh rate.

  • Processor : Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 (the same one that some high-end models will use).

  • RAM : Options from 12 GB to 16 GB LPDDR5X.

  • Storage : 256GB and 512GB UFS 4.0.

  • Main camera : 50 MP Sony IMX890 sensor, optical image stabilization (OIS).

  • Battery : 5500 mAh with 120W fast charging.

  • Operating System : HyperOS based on Android 14.

On paper, this is a machine ready to compete head-to-head with the high-end models of 2024... at a Turbo price.

When will it be launched and when will it arrive in Chile ?

According to the most recent leaks, the Official launch in China would be at the end of May 2025. Xiaomi usually releases its Redmi line globally 2 or 3 months later .
This would put us in an August-September window to see its official arrival in Latin America, including Chile .

Now, in the Chilean market, Xiaomi normally works with two strategies:

  • Official launch through retailers such as Falabella, Paris, and Mercado Libre, with slightly higher starting prices.

  • Parallel imports (especially from smartphone specialist stores) are available a few months earlier, sometimes at a better price, but with fewer official guarantees.

So if you want to be one of the first to get your hands on it, keeping an eye on pre-orders and unofficial distributors will be key .

Why should you wait for the Turbo 4 Pro?

Beyond pure techie enthusiasm, there are practical reasons to consider this model:

  • High-end processor : If you like to play games, edit photos, shoot 4K videos, or just want a phone that won't fall short in 2-3 years, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is a guarantee.

  • Brutal screen : Having a 144 Hz refresh rate and a high-resolution OLED panel is a luxury that others reserve only for phones that cost twice or three times the price.

  • Ultra-fast charging : 120W means charging your phone from 0 to 100% in less than 20 minutes. For those who live in a hurry (like almost everyone in Santiago or any major Chilean city), this is simply revolutionary.

  • Pro-grade camera : The Sony IMX890 sensor has proven its worth in other high-end smartphones . With OIS, it's ideal for nighttime photos and stable videos.

Are there any points to consider before taking the plunge?

Of course, no device is perfect:

  • Limited updates : While HyperOS promises fluidity, Xiaomi still has a spotty track record with major updates to its mid-range.

  • Limited initial availability : Initially, the Turbo 4 Pro may arrive in limited numbers in Latin America.

  • Price inflation : If not purchased through the right channel, we could see prices in Chile that are quite inflated compared to prices in China or Spain.

How does it compare to the competition?

In the range of 350,000 to 500,000 CLP , the Turbo 4 Pro would compete directly with:

  • Samsung Galaxy A55 : Good camera, but inferior processor.

  • Motorola Edge 50 Fusion : Big screen, but less raw power.

  • Poco F6 : Similar in power, but with a different approach to design and user experience.

Xiaomi 's big difference here would be to offer an experience close to a high-end one , in key areas such as power , screen and fast charging , but without emptying your bank account.

Is the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro worth the wait?

From where I see it, yes.
If you're looking for a powerful, durable, and modern phone , the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro looks like one of the best alternatives in 2025.
Of course, we'll have to wait for official confirmations, test the actual software, and, above all, analyze how its price will perform in Chile. But if Xiaomi repeats its successful formula, we could be looking at one of the most recommendable smartphones of the year.

What do you think?

Would you wait for the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro or would you rather go for another model now?
