Nuevo Nubia Redmagic 8

RedMagic kicks off the calendar year with all the power of a gaming phone, this time sporting the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Learn all about this new device, which we'll of course be bringing to Chile.

New Nubia Redmagic 8

The new nubia RedMagic 8 Pro has a completely new look for 2023, gone are the sweeping curves of its predecessor and instead we have sharp, square corners and a completely flat rear panel (excluding the protruding camera lenses).

The design is certainly subtle, by gaming phone standards, but the usual RGB lighting is there if you're looking for a little more style.

The color scheme offers a more striking approach, with a transparent back panel, gold accents, and RedMagic's RGB cooling fan, which we saw on the RedMagic 7 last year.

Redmagic 8 display and speakers

The display is the highlight of the Redmagic 8, being one of the few options on the market with an under-display camera.

The narrow bezels and square design also add to this effect, making the sizable display appear even larger.

In terms of specifications, it's quite similar to the RedMagic 7S Pro, with a slight increase in resolution, possibly due to the sharp corners. Otherwise, it's pretty much the same. You still get a 6.8-inch diagonal, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 960Hz touch sampling.

What has improved, however, is the brightness output. The Nubia Redmagic 8 now exceeds 1,300 nits, which is bright enough for most needs.

The speakers are also truly impressive, delivering great clarity and soundstage, along with some low-end punch that's often lacking on mobile devices.

Performance and software

The new Redmagic 8 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 gen 2 processor, so it is a real beast.

This will handle any game you can throw at it with ease, and it also remains stable under pressure. The active cooling fan does a great job of dissipating heat, and where some older RedMagic devices were known to get very hot when using their aluminum frame as a heat sink, the latest model never got too hot.

The phone runs RedMagic OS v6.0, based on Android 13, out of the box. It's very similar to previous RedMagic operating systems, both in terms of aesthetics and functionality. Compared to some of the competition, it's quite lightweight, and most of the preinstalled apps serve a purpose—for gaming or adding accessories.

You'll be able to get this gaming phone on GSM Pro as soon as possible. If you're looking to buy a gaming phone in Chile to enjoy its features, you can get it with us!
