You just bought a Pico 4 and you want to get it up and running, but you don't know where to start.
Don't despair! Because first you have to learn how to set it up properly so your fun isn't interrupted.
So take a few minutes to read this article and then set yourself up for many hours of fun.
-
Create a Pico account
The first thing is to create a Pico account and add an avatar to it.
For this step, you'll need to download the Pico VR Assistant app on your phone. This app will help you through the entire setup process. You can run it on both Android and iPhone.
Next, select your Pico 4 device from the list of devices that appears. Go to Menu and create your Pico account using your email address.
Now go to "Profile" to edit and create your avatar. You can change your physical appearance with preset models and also customize your avatar with more details.
By having an avatar, that is, your virtual profile, you can start making friends on the social app. You can send friend requests and even chat with them; this option is very useful for inviting new friends to your game room.

Connect your Pico account to the VR headset
To connect the Pico account you created to your glasses, simply turn on your PICO 4 and put it on.
A pop-up window will ask you to configure your language, Wi-Fi network, and log in to your Pico account. Enter the same email address you used in the app and enter your password.
That's it! You've now connected your Pico account to your glasses!

Adjust the IPD and the guardian system
Now it is necessary to adjust the IPD (InterPupillary Distance) .
IPD is a VR headset feature that refers to adjusting the interpupillary distance between our eyes to achieve the greatest possible sharpness. Early PICO models performed manual adjustment, but today you can easily find models with motorized IPD, like this Pico 4 .
Next, set up the guard system, which is nothing more than an invisible wall (a kind of grid) created to prevent you from hitting surrounding objects, including walls. With this system, you can calibrate the floor and create the perimeter of the play area.
If you get too close to the protective grilles, the headset's exterior cameras will activate and you will be taken out of the virtual world.

Download games and apps on PICO 4 VR
You can download the games from the official PICO store; both free and paid versions are available. There are also unofficial stores where you can find great deals and many free games from new developers like Side Quest or itch.io.
If this is your first time playing VR games, we recommend starting with static games to avoid motion sickness and keeping sessions to no more than 15 minutes. If you start to feel motion sickness, take off the headset for a while; this is normal.
After a while, you can try more exciting games with simulators, spaceships, or vehicle driving, where you'll definitely need VR accessories like vests and controllers for the full experience.
Now you know the first steps to a great experience with your new Pico 4.
Enjoy!
