Meta partially announced Quest 3 on June 1, and sales pages have already been set up for major retailers in the United States and Canada, such as Best Buy.
Best Buy is a technology retailer recognized for its focus on the essential technological needs of young people and its social action in the area of sustainability. A company with a strong reputation for selecting and bringing its products to market.
That's why it's caught the attention of various media outlets and journalists that Best Buy has already created a sales page for Meta Quest 3 , with a starting price of $499. Although, of course, its sales button isn't activated, as it says "coming soon." However, it does give you the opportunity to create an account to be among the first to purchase it when it's available.
What does it mean that Best Buy is already announcing the sale of the Quest 3?
This news can be taken to mean that Meta Quest 3 could be released sooner than expected, as its release was expected in October, closer to the Christmas holidays.
However, with sales already looming on e-commerce sites like Best Buy, we assume that the September Connect conference could come with a specific (and early) sale date.
It also assumes the fact that Quest 3 must have already received Federal Communications Commission ( FCC) certification.
All electronic and telecommunications products marketed in the United States must meet technical requirements established by local FCC regulations before being announced for sale. This requirement is rarely met quickly and tends to delay the launch of many devices.
So if it's already listed for sale, it's because the manufacturer already has the warranty code.
Meta's strategy against the competition could have brought forward its launch date
It can also be seen as a sales strategy that Meta has adopted compared to the Apple Vision Pro , which was announced just days after the Quest 3 with a release date for the first quarter of 2024. And although the prices and audiences are very different ($499 Meta Quest 3 VS $3,500 Apple Vision Pro), the strategy that involves maintaining leadership in a field, in this case virtual reality, should not be underestimated.
