Google Bard, la respuesta de Google frente a ChatGPT para potenciar Workspace

Since November 2022, ChatGPT has been capturing the world's attention on Google's own search engine. A competitive threat that Google seems not to have seen coming.

What is Google Bard? Why has Google responded with Google Bard three months later? What is Google Bard's proposal? Is Google Bard now available to all users?

Keep reading, as we'll answer all of these questions here.

What is Google Bard?

Bard is a conversational bot developed by Google using artificial intelligence. It's based on the LaMDA (Language Model for Dialog Applications) family; you could say it's Google's ChatGPT, to make its work more understandable. Indeed, it's Google's direct response to OpenAI, the maker of Chat GPT backed by Windows.

There is even talk that Google executives were forced to call in Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Google's co-founders, who had been retired from Alphabet, Google's parent company, since 2019, to address the situation.

Why is it that Google has responded with Google Bard three months later?

Bard has been in the laboratory for several years, but according to its founders, it's difficult to launch it before it's ready, not only because of the technological challenges involved, but also because of its social and legal impact, which are not yet relevant. Google asserts that rushing into action could cost the brand's reputation dearly.

However, due to the increasing popularity of ChatGPT, they found it necessary to activate “code red” to release Bard to the public, which was presented on February 7, 2023.

What is Google Bard's proposal?

Many details about how it works are still unknown, but what they have been able to reveal is that it will be constantly connected to the internet. This is a very important detail compared to ChatGPT, since the latter is not.

The difference is that as long as the bot is constantly connected to the internet, the responses will be more up-to-date. It will even avoid providing outdated information.

Additionally, Bard will be integrated with Google, so it won't be independent of the search engine. It will also be included in the Google Workspace apps, which will definitely improve the work tools.

Another great advantage is that responses will be accompanied by citations to the source from which they were obtained. This avoids legal copyright infringement, and users will be able to verify the source of their information. This is an advancement that other chats do not currently offer.

Is Google Play now available for all users?

The announcement has already been made, but it is not yet available, nor is there a date for its arrival.

This creative collaborator, as Google itself calls him, is currently being tested and may therefore provide inaccurate and even misleading answers. Therefore, removing him right now would be irresponsible for the brand.

What you can do is join the waiting list and try it for yourself on what's available here .
